Final Stats

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State men's cross-country team defended their home turf with pride in the 12th annual Spartan Invitational Friday (Sept. 21). This meet was a non-scoring meet took place at Forest Akers East Golf Course on the MSU campus.

Junior Ben Evans (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) was the top collegiate finisher at fourth with a time of 24:37.8 behind Jeff Campbell, Emry Carr and Richie Brinker of Hanson's Running.

"The team did pretty good," said coach Jim Stintzi. "There are a few things we still have to work on."

Gavin Thompson of Eastern Michigan followed Evans. One goal for the Spartans at this meet was to keep pace the Eastern Michigan, the 2000 NCAA Great Lakes Regional champion.

"I think we did well," stated Stintzi. "We would have edged out and could have beaten them more soundly."
