Men's Golf Tied for 14th After First Day of NCAA East Regional
The Michigan State men's golf team posted an opening round one-over par 285 today at the NCAA East Regional, held at Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. Currently, the Spartans, the region's eighth seed, are tied for 14th and are four strokes behind the final NCAA Championship qualifying position.

Big Ten Champion Spartans Selected to 2008 NCAA East Regional
Fresh off its third Big Ten Championship title in four years, the Michigan State men's golf team was an automatic qualifier for the 2008 NCAA East Regional Championship, announced this afternoon on a conference call by the NCAA offices. Competition will be held May 15-17 at the Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Sam Puryear Named Big Ten Men's Golf Coach of the Year
First-year Michigan State head coach Sam Puryear was named the Big Ten Conference's Men's Golf Coach of the Year, it was announced today by the conference office. Also gaining recognition today by the league was senior Ryan Brehm, junior Randy Hutchison and sophomore Jack Newman. Brehm and Hutchison were named to the All-Big Ten First Team, while Newman garnered second-team recognition. Brehm also was named Michigan State's sportsmanship nominee.

Spartans Win Back-to-Back Big Ten Men's Golf Championships
The Michigan State men's golf team captured its second consecutive Big Ten Championship on Sunday, April 27 at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich. The Spartans shot a final round 301 to hold off a hard-charging Minnesota squad. For the tournament, the Spartans shot a four-round total of 21-over par 1,173 (291-295-286-301), bettering the Golden Gophers (293-301-290-293) by four strokes. It is MSU's third conference title in the last four years, and fourth overall.

Spartans Retake Lead on Saturday at 2008 Big Ten Men's Golf Championship
Behind an impressive third round two-under par 286, the Michigan State men's golf team regained the lead today at the 2008 Big Ten Men's Golf Championship on the Forest Akers West Course in East Lansing, Mich. The Spartans now hold an 11-stroke lead over the field with a three-day total of eight-over 872.

Men's Golf In Third Place After Two Rounds At Big Ten Championships
The Michigan State men's golf team stands in third place after day one at the 2008 Big Ten Championships, held on the Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich. The Spartans are at 10-over par 586 (291-295) after two rounds. Illinois sits atop the leaderboard with a five-over par 581 (293-288). Senior Ryan Brehm is MSU's top performer after a two-round total of three-under par 141 (72-69), good for a tie for second place. Indiana's Jorge Campillo leads the championships with a four-under par 140 (69-71).

Michigan State Leads After First Round of Big Ten Men's Golf Championship
The Michigan State men's golf team holds a two stroke lead after the first round of the 2008 Big Ten Men's Golf Championship, held at the Forest Akers West Course in East Lansing, Mich. The morning round was completed early this afternoon with the Spartans firing a three-over par 291, to lead a group of four schools, including Illinois, Minnesota, Northwestern and Ohio State, that sit at five-over par 293.
